NurseDay
Every shift belongs to someone’s day.

- Connecting ward requirements and nurses’ choices

One person’s day off is part of a whole ward’s plan.
Changing one nurse’s day off also changes staffing, skill mix, rest around adjacent shifts and colleagues’ night-work burden. NurseDay uses constraint optimization to work through these connected conditions and shows conflicts and trade-offs in roster candidates. Managers revalidate before publication and review necessary exceptions. Nurses use the published roster to find swaps and view personal plans alongside friends’ shared shifts. The ward’s operating plan carries through into the days of the people working there.
Shared constraints become a shared roster.
Staffing, skills, rest and preferences
Consider ward requirements, personal preferences and shifts from the previous month together.
Review roster candidates and trade-offs
Search with constraint optimization and show conflicts, staffing gaps and relaxed conditions.
Publication, swaps and personal schedules
Revalidate before publication and connect checked swaps to the roster and personal schedules.
The work this product connects.
Balance staffing, skills, rest and preferences
A CP-SAT constraint solver considers staffing, skill mix, new nurse and preceptor pairings, rest and shift preferences together. Search within a time limit for roster candidates that account for shifts at the end of the previous month and the distribution of night and weekend work.
Rosters that explain conflicts and trade-offs
Expose rest conflicts between fixed shifts, staffing gaps and conditions relaxed during the search. Revalidate against the server’s current reference data at publication, recording reasons and approval for permitted exceptions.
Shift swaps that connect ward needs and personal choice
Find mutually suitable one-to-one swaps for the same day and check surrounding shifts, rest and skill requirements for both nurses. On acceptance, revalidate against the published roster before updating the swap status and roster together.
Bring the published roster into life outside work
Connect published shifts and accepted swaps to the personal calendar, and compare your schedule with a friend’s shared shifts. Use the same roster information to plan daily life, from checking the next shift to finding time together.
